Tuju Arrested After Reappearing

Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has been arrested hours after reappearing following his two days dissappearance.

This has been confirmed by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin.

Speaking at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, Amin stated that Tuju was taken into custody to record a statement in connection with an alleged “staged abduction.”

“Raphael Tuju has been arrested and booked at Karen Police Station to record a comprehensive statement explaining his whereabouts, the circumstances behind his abandoned motor vehicle, the reports filed by his family, particulars of the good Samaritan who gave him an accommodation somewhere in Kiambu and all other related contacts,” Amin said.

The DCI boss said Tuju was at his home in Karen the whole time he was reported missing.

According to his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, the former CS—who had been missing since Sunday afternoon was manhandled during the process and sustained injuries, prompting a demand that he be taken to Karen Hospital for treatment.

 

Tuju, who was reported missing on Saturday, resurfaced on Monday, detailing the circumstances that led to his brief disappearance.

 

Addressing journalists, Tuju said he abandoned his car after noticing unmarked vehicles trailing him.
