The warrant was issued by the Kibera Chief Magistrate’s Court following Onsomu’s absence during scheduled mentions on June 11 and June 24, 2026.
Onsomu faces charges of obtaining Sh2.05 million by false pretences from one Daniel Nyakundi Osiemo between September 8 and October 6, 2022.
Prosecutors allege he received the funds while falsely claiming he could assist the complainant in obtaining information relating to a parcel of land, a representation the prosecution says he knew to be untrue at the time.
During the June 24 mention, his advocate Mose Nyambega sought an adjournment through a letter dated June 22, citing a knee injury sustained in an accident that had left his client unable to attend or for him to conduct proceedings effectively.

The court declined to grant the adjournment and instead directed the Officer Commanding Station at Lang’ata Police Station to trace, arrest, and present Onsomu before the court.
Onsomu’s name had previously surfaced in an internal dispute within NEDP after party leader and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko suspended party activities over allegations that some officials were soliciting money from aspirants seeking opportunities within the party.
The matter is scheduled for mention on July 23, 2026, when the court will receive a progress report on efforts to locate and arrest him.
