Makini Schools will officially unveil a refreshed brand identity tomorrow, in a move aimed at repositioning the institution beyond a Kenya-focused school network and establishing it as a broader African education brand.
The rebrand is intended to reflect Makini’s expansion and its ambition to operate and be recognized across multiple African countries rather than primarily as a Kenyan institution.
While the school’s visual identity has been modernized, the name Makini Schools will remain unchanged, a decision the institution says preserves its heritage and reputation.
The new identity introduces a redesigned logo intended to convey confidence, clarity and readiness for the future. Importantly, the brand will not only appear across Makini campuses in Kenya but will also be adopted by ADvTECH International schools across the continent, including Gaborone International Schools in Botswana, signaling a deliberate shift toward a unified continental presence.
“This rebrand represents a strategic evolution of Makini Schools,” said Regional Managing Director Horace Mpanza.
“While our visual identity has been refreshed, our name and commitment to quality education remain unchanged. The new identity reflects who we are today and where we are headed as we continue shaping future-ready learners.”
According to the school, the move follows a period of expansion and investment.
Makini recently acquired Regis School, now renamed Makini Schools Runda, and opened sports facilities worth more than KSh100 million at its Ngong Road and Kisumu campuses.
The institution has also increased investment in extracurricular programmes, modern learning infrastructure and digital learning systems.
Among the technological initiatives is ADvLEARN, an artificial intelligence-enabled platform supporting personalised learning, alongside provision of laptops to teachers and installation of classroom projectors to support digital instruction.
Mpanza said the integration of artificial intelligence into education is necessary as labor markets evolve. “AI will undoubtedly change the nature of work, but it will also create new opportunities that demand higher-order thinking, creativity and adaptability. Our learners must be prepared for jobs that may not yet exist,” he said.
Founded on the goal of providing accessible, high-quality education, Makini Schools says the refreshed brand aligns with its long-term strategy to strengthen its recognition across Africa as it expands.
The announcement was made during a media roundtable where the school’s leadership also discussed the evolving role of private education.
They noted that collaboration between private schools, government and other stakeholders will be important in strengthening implementation, encouraging innovation and improving learner preparedness.
“Our heritage is our foundation,” Mpanza added. “This rebrand honors our past while boldly positioning Makini for the next generation of learners.”
