A Kenyan-born truck driver living in Texas, United States, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to ramming another tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike last year, killing another driver in a road‑rage incident.Joseph Nyandwaro, 41, received a six-year prison term on Friday, 6 February 2026, in Gloucester County Superior Court after pleading guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide.
The crash occurred on June 22, 2025, in Woolwich Township on the northbound Turnpike.
Prosecutors said Nyandwaro struck the other truck driven by 40-year-old Osman Aden of Minnesota, sending it into a concrete barrier, killing the driver on impact.
A video recorded from inside Nyandwaro’s truck later showed the crash, and him laughing as he drove away from the scene, according to court and police statements.
With help from the trucking company, New Jersey State Police were able to locate Nyandwaro’s vehicle and confirm his involvement. In court, prosecutors described the case as second-degree homicide.
In exchange, prosecutors recommended a six‑year term with a requirement that he serve at least 85% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
