Convict in the murder of former Marathoner Samson Kandie, has been handed a five-year jail term for manslaughter.
In a ruling delivered today at the Eldoret High Court by Justice Nyakundi, Vincent Ngososei will be imprisoned after the court initially found him guilty of the offence.
The accused was initially charged alongside two others with the offence of the murder of former marathon athlete Samson Kandie.
He subsequently entered into a plea bargain agreement with the State, in which he admitted that he had been instructed by one of his co-accused persons, the wife of the deceased, to discipline Samson Kandie over alleged infidelity. The State presented evidence placing the accused at the deceased’s home between 7 and 9 p.m. on the night of 3 October 2024.
The deceased was found shortly thereafter, having been grievously assaulted, which led to his death. Separately, Jamleck Morogit, who had also been charged alongside Vincent, entered into a plea bargain agreement with the State and was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for conspiracy to murder.
Under the terms of the agreements, both Vincent and Jamleck are expected to testify against their co-conspirator in the ongoing murder case.
