The search for missing Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Legal Services Manager Esther Wairimu Keige has ended tragically after her body was found in a secluded coffee plantation in Juja, Kiambu County.

The 54-year-old advocate had been missing since June 10, 2026, when she left her office along Kiambu Road and failed to return home.

Juja Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Kombo confirmed that the body was discovered at Area 4 near Karimenu in Juja. Her brother also confirmed the discovery on Monday.

Police said the body was intact but had begun decomposing. Two family members later visited the scene and positively identified the remains.

The body was moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Investigators said students from a nearby school reported seeing Wairimu alive shortly before her body was discovered. They told police she had visited the school seeking assistance to get food.

Police are now recording statements from family members as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death, including her state of mind before she went missing.
