Uhuru Kenyatta Denies Directing Gachagua on Mt Kenya Political Mobilisation

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has strongly denied reports circulating on social media alleging that he instructed Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua to organise a major political mobilisation involving leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

In an official statement released on Thursday, Uhuru termed the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated, warning the public against spreading unverified information attributed to him.

The statement, issued through his Secretary of Communication, Kanze Dena Mararo, clarified that the viral posts were unauthorised and did not represent the former president’s views on Mt Kenya politics or any current political engagements.

“The Office of the 4th President, Uhuru Kenyatta, has noted with concern the deliberate circulation of misleading and false content on various social media platforms,” the statement read.

Uhuru’s office further urged Kenyans to remain vigilant, verify information from credible sources, and avoid amplifying misinformation that could mislead the public or fuel political tension.

The denial comes amid heightened political activity in the Mt Kenya region, with various leaders seeking to consolidate influence and mobilize support ahead of upcoming political developments.
